Industrial Restructuring and Sector Competitiveness

Industrial restructuring is a feature of the economic landscape and its patterns vary from one country to another and across sectors depending also on the economic conjuncture. Eurecna started its work in industrial restructuring in Phare and Tacis countries in the nineties providing assistance within large privatization processes with advice to governments on the formulation of privatisation policies. We also advised governments for managing large scale reconversion programmes in regions hit by strong industrial decline, especially in heavy industry, military industry, steelworks and mines. We formulated and implemented measures for mitigating the social impact of restructuring. Within these projects we have often worked also at the company level providing hands-on assistance for restructuring of enterprises of different sizes and industry sectors and turnaround of companies coming out from privatisation or acquisition deals.

More recently we have undertaken work in given industrial sectors with the aim of promoting its international competitiveness. We have formulated and implemented strategic business plans, provided support in product design, product development, operational marketing, sales expansion plans and advised on quality management and productivity improvement.

We have worked in Armenia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Poland, Slovenia, Romania, Hungary, Moldova and more recently in Bosnia Herzegovina and Egypt gaining experience and knowledge of a variety of different industrial political and economic backgrounds.
